Maths Unlocked Privacy Policy

Maths Unlocked is a GCSE maths revision platform developed by Roy Gillin, a maths teacher with over 10 years’ experience across mainstream and specialist education.
Maths Unlocked aims to make GCSE maths revision clearer, more structured and more accessible for pupils, parents, tutors and schools.

2. What this policy explains
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we may share it with, how long we keep it, your privacy rights, and how we protect pupils’ information.
Maths Unlocked may be used by children and young people. We aim to collect only the information needed to provide the service and support learning.

Parent, tutor and teacher information

- pupils linked to the account
- classes or groups managed through the platform
- task-setting and progress-monitoring activity
Payment information
- If paid plans are introduced, payments may be handled by a third-party payment provider such as Stripe.
- Maths Unlocked should not directly store full card details. Payment providers may process information needed to manage subscriptions, payments, refunds and invoices.
Technical information
- device type
- browser type
- approximate location based on IP address
- pages visited
- error logs
- login activity
- security information
- cookie or session information

4. Why we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- provide access to Maths Unlocked

For school accounts, the school may be the data controller for pupil data and Maths Unlocked may act as a data processor. This will be covered by a separate school data processing agreement where needed.

We may share information with trusted service providers who help us run Maths Unlocked, such as:

- payment providers
- analytics or error-monitoring providers, if used
- schools, tutors or parents connected to a student account
We only share information where needed to provide, improve, protect or administer the service.
We do not sell pupil data.
We do not allow sponsors to access pupil personal data.
8. Sponsors and advertising
Maths Unlocked may use sponsorship to help fund free GCSE maths revision access.
Sponsors may be recognised in appropriate places, such as:
- the free version landing page
- a sponsor/supporter page
- after completion of Daily 10
- social media thank-you posts
Sponsors do not control educational content, questions, answers, feedback, topic recommendations or progress reports.
Maths Unlocked does not use tracking-based advertising aimed at pupils.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
Maths Unlocked may use cookies or similar technologies to:
- keep users logged in
- keep the app secure
- remember preferences
- understand basic app usage, if analytics are used
- manage payments, if paid plans are introduced
Non-essential cookies will only be used where appropriate consent has been given.
